WATCH: Trump calls for ‘Board of Peace’ in Gaza as part of plan to end war

From PBS NewsHour.

President Donald Trump offered details on the “Board of Peace” that is part of what his administration calls his “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict” during an appearance Monday at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump said he will lead the body, which will include, among others, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair – a figure who has been at the center of possible efforts in a post-war Gaza since he stepped down as prime minister.

“Working with the World Bank and others, it will be responsible for recruiting
and training a new government that will be made up of Palestinians along with highly qualified experts from all around the world,” Trump said.

The president said “Hamas and other terrorist factions will play no role in the board” and will have “no role in the governance of Gaza at all, directly or indirectly.”

Trump’s plan also calls for, among other things, an immediate end to the war, economic development of the Gaza Strip, a swap of hostages and prisoners between Hamas and Israel and an Israeli pledge not to occupy or annex Gaza.
