WATCH: ‘We want them all back,’ Trump says of Israeli hostages

From PBS NewsHour.

President Donald Trump criticized countries who have recognized a Palestinian state during his speech before the 2025 United Nations General Assembly.

“As if to encourage continued conflict, some of this body is seeking to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state,” Trump said during his address to the assembly in New York. “The rewards would be too great for Hamas terrorists, for their atrocities. This would be a reward for these horrible atrocities, including Oct. 7, even while they refused to release the hostages or accept a ceasefire.”

Earlier this week, Britain, Canada, Australia, Portugal and France joined the list of countries who recognize a Palestinian state. “A two-state solution, with a safe and secure Israel alongside a viable and sovereign Palestinian state led by a reformed Palestinian Authority, is the only path to a lasting peace for the Israeli and Palestinian people — free from the horrendous violence and suffering of the last two years,” the British government said in a news release.

Trump also called for an immediate end to the war and the release of all hostages.

“We’ve got to get the hostages back. We want all 20 back,” he said. “We want them all back, and we want the actually 38 dead bodies back too. Those parents came to me and they want them back, and they want them back very quickly and very badly. … They want them every bit as much as if their son or daughter were alive.”
