From Global News.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attempted to brush off the bombshell resignation of Chrystia Freeland, his former top cabinet member, as a dispute between family at the Liberals’ national caucus holiday party on Tuesday evening.
“Now, like most families sometimes we have fights around the holidays. But of course, like most families, we find our way through it,” he said.
Freeland announced her resignation on Monday just hours before she was set to deliver the Fall Economic Statement. His comments Tuesday was his first time speaking publicly about the bombshell decision.
Trudeau also took aim at Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre, calling him a “Grinch”— alluding to the Children’s holiday classic about a curmudgeon who tries to “steal” Christmas.
He repeated his attack on Poilievre for voting against the “holiday” tax break despite repeatedly calling for tax cuts.
