US President-elect Donald Trump has threatened to retake control over the Panama Canal. Trump told supporters Panama was charging too much for US-owned ships to pass through, considering how much Washington spent to build the waterway more than a hundred years ago. Panama’s president has hit back insisting control of the canal is non-negotiable.
