From Global News.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to make a child care announcement on Thursday in Kanata, Ont. He will be joined by the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, Jenna Sudds.
This follows the Alberta government’s decision to implement a $15-a-day flat rate for child care for children kindergarten age or younger, effective April 1.
Trudeau will also take questions from reporters as rising tariffs and escalating trade tensions are causing concern among Canadians regarding the stability of their finances, job security, and retirement plans.
U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25 per cent tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada took effect on Tuesday, along with a doubling of duties on Chinese goods to 20 per cent, sparking trade wars that could slam economic growth.
In retaliation, Canada launched a 25 per cent tariffs on C$30 billion worth of U.S. imports. Hundreds of thousands of jobs in sectors across the country will be at risk, premiers have said.
