From Global News.
U.S. President Donald Trump said steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada will go up to 50 per cent, in response to Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s decision to impose a 25 per cent tariff on electricity imports to the U.S.
Trump’s initial plan was to impose a 25 per cent tariff on steel and aluminum products Wednesday. And if he goes ahead with the threatened 50 per cent, Ford says he “will respond appropriately” – implying further retaliation is on the way.
“I apologize to the American people that President Trump decided to have an unprovoked attack on our country, on families, on jobs. It’s unacceptable,” Ford said.
