Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre is set to hold a press conference on Friday. This comes on the heels of Liberal Party of Canada Leader Mark Carney being sworn in as Canada’s 24th prime minister.

Carney, who is not a member of Parliament, is expected to seek a seat in the House of Commons in short order, and speculation is high that he could trigger a snap election quickly.

One day after Mark Carney won the race for Liberal leadership leader, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre sent a warning to Canadians, insinuating Carney was not qualified to take on U.S. President Donald Trump as the U.S.-Canada trade war unfolds.

Poilievre says Trump will “leverage” millions of dollars’ worth of Carney’s personal U.S. investments “against the interest of the Canadian people.”
