Dr. Mehmet Oz, President Donald Trump’s nominee for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services administrator, shared what he called “painful truths” about the American health care system’s costs and quality during his confirmation hearing Friday.
In his opening statement before the Senate Finance Committee, he noted how the United States pays much more for care while experiencing much worse outcomes compared to other prosperous nations.
Oz is a cardiothoracic surgeon, author and former host TV host. He has come under fire in the past for promoting unproven supplements and weight-loss treatments.
