Houthi rebels in Yemen are promising escalation following U.S. airstrikes that killed at least 53 people over the weekend in the capital, Sanaa, and northern region of Saada.

The airstrikes come after the Iran-backed group sank two vessels in the Red Sea, part of repeated attacks on international shipping routes. The rebel group says the acts are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where Israel has been at war with Hamas, another ally of Iran.
