Speaking Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt sought to dispel concerns from media and the public after ‘The Atlantic’ editor was accidentally included in a sensitive group discussion – on the encrypted Signal app – about recent U.S. military plans to eliminate Houthi rebels in Yemen.

President Donald Trump addressed the controversy on Monday, and while he claimed that classified information had not been shared in the chat, he focused on the “very successful” assault in Yemen.

Despite the Signal chat containing information about some of the weapons used in the attack on Houthis, as well as timings for strikes, Leavitt reiterated that there was “no classified information transmitted,” calling concerns on the matter a “sensationalized story” by “mainstream media.”

“There were no locations, no sources or methods revealed, and there were certainly no war plans discussed,” Leavitt told reporters.

As Democrats call on top officials to resign over the security incident, Trump has assured the masses that an investigation is underway. Leavitt doubled down, saying the National Security Council, the White House counsel’s office and “Elon Musk’s “technical experts,” who will try “to figure out how this number was inadvertently added to the chat.”
