A man in his 60s suffered life-threatening injuries late Monday afternoon after he was hit with a gas pump at a Shell station in Etobicoke, Ont., in what police have described as a "freak accident."

Ayub Bsis, 26, has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and careless driving causing bodily harm after he drove away from the gas station with the nozzle still attached to his vehicle. The pump broke away and struck the man in his 60s.
