White House says Harvard “should apologize” for “egregious antisemitism” as Trump freezes funding

From Global News.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that President Donald Trump believes Harvard University “should apologize” to Jewish American students for what she called the “egregious antisemitism” that has occurred on its campus.

Her comments came hours after the Trump administration said it would freeze $2.2 billion in grants and US$60 million in contracts to the university, after the administration said it would defy the administration’s demands to limit activism on campus.

“I think the president is also begging a good question,” she added. “More than $2 billion out the door to Harvard when they have a more than $50 billion endowment. Why are the American taxpayers subsidizing a university that has billions of dollars in the bank already.”

The hold on Harvard’s funding marks the seventh time President Trump’s administration has taken the step of freezing funding to one of America’s most elite colleges.
