US President Donald Trump has signed a new travel ban that is set to come into effect on 9 June targeting 12 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran and Yemen, reviving one of the most controversial measures from his first term.
Trump says that the measure was spurred by an attack on a Jewish protest in Colorado that US authorities blamed on a man they said was in the country illegally. The suspect Mohammed Sabry Soliman is an Egyptian national, according to court documents. Egypt was notably not on the list of countries facing travel restrictions.
