From Global News.
Canada’s housing agency says home construction in the country needs to double within the next decade if affordability is to reach levels last seen in 2019.
The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. (CMHC) says up to 4.8 million new homes will need to be built by 2035.
That means between 430,000 and 480,000 housing units per year – far more than the 245,000 CMHC projected for each year.
Anne Gaviola explains what’s at stake if Canada can’t rapidly increase construction and development.
