“I don’t trust her”: Thousands demand Thai PM resign over border dispute with Cambodia

From Global News.

Thousands of protesters rallied in Bangkok Saturday to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, piling pressure on a government at risk of collapse over a border dispute with neighbouring Cambodia.

“I want the Prime Minister to resign because I don’t trust her. That’s a clear reason,” said Supannee, a 59-year-old woman who joined the protest in the Thai capital against Shinawatra and the governing Pheu Thai party.

Protester Phongsaphak Hathaiphisut, a 19-year-old former Pheu Thai supporter, said, "the leaked audio clips of conversations clearly show that the Prime Minister doesn’t even love the nation a little bit."

The rally, the largest anti-government protest since the Pheu Thai party came to power in 2023, increases pressure on Shinawatra, 38, who is battling to revive a faltering economy and keep a fragile government coalition together ahead of a potential no-confidence vote next month.
