Despite this, Black Americans continue to navigate under an economic system that historically hasn’t been kind. “We live in contradictory systems every day,” says Dr. Laryea. In “Black Capitalists: A Blueprint for What is Possible,” Laryea redefines what it means to be a Black and a capitalist. While the tools of capitalism have been racialized in the past, they “can be neutral” and provide positive outcomes.
