Syria’s new government is struggling to implement and enforce a ceasefire, which already looks to have collapsed.

Armed Islamist militants are back on the streets as government forces are being deployed, following more sectarian clashes between Bedouin fighters and the Druze minority.

This follows days of bloodshed in Sweida, where hundreds of people have been killed or kidnapped.
