Sam Hollis was leading a surf lesson off Florida’s New Smyrna Beach on Friday when a shark suddenly bit down on his left foot. The encounter left behind deep-tissue injuries, but he was able to swim to safety and medical help. “I didn’t see it beforehand, I didn’t hear it or anything. It just kind of, you know, yanked me,” the 18-year-old says. NBC’s Jesse Kirsch reports for TODAY.
