Columns of smoke rise over Deir el-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, as the city came under intense shelling after Israel’s military warned of imminent action in an area where it had not previously operated. The United Nations said two UN guesthouses have been struck following a new evacuation order in parts of Deir el-Balah.
