From Global News.
Canadians saw fewer auto thefts in the first half of the year compared to a year ago, according to a new report by Équité Association.
There were 23,094 private passenger vehicles stolen in the first six months of the year, the industry group says – a drop of 19 per cent compared to 2024.
The biggest drop in auto theft was found in Ontario and Quebec, which both saw some of the highest rates between 2021 and 2023.
As Iris Dyck reports, efforts to curb auto theft are working but as law enforcement cracks down auto thieves get more creative.
