President Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee are now the highest-ranking U.S. officials to visit the Strip since 2009. It’s not immediately clear who was in charge of orchestrating their trip and its itinerary, but New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof says it’s clear the trip isn’t a call to action to help solve the humanitarian crisis, but a substitute for it.
