There has been a call for change in what has been part of Israeli policy for decades. Hundreds of retired Israeli security officials are making the case to end the war in Gaza and they are urging Donald Trump to pressure their government to do so.

The former staff say in a video that the fighting with Hamas has dragged on for political reasons, and now puts Israel’s security and identity at risk. The conflict has lasted nearly two years. Israel has said 50 hostages are being held in Gaza, of whom around 20 are thought to be still alive.
