From Global News.
Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre accused Prime Minister Mark Carney of “bending over backwards” to please U.S. President Donald Trump amid ongoing trade negotiations, alleging that Canada “has gotten nothing in return.”
Poilievre called for counter tariffs to be “narrowly targeted” to have the most impact on Americans and minimal impact on Canadians.
The Conservative leader also unveiled plans to table the ‘Canadian Sovereignty Act’ in the fall session of Parliament.
Poilievre said the act would repeal C-69 to make it easier to build pipelines and other major projects, repeal bill C-48, do away with the industrial carbon tax and EV sales mandate and eliminate capital gains tax on reinvestments in Canada, among other measures.
