A wildfire near the city of Patras, in western Greece, prompted the evacuation of at least 25 settlements on August 12 and August 13, as fires persisted throughout the country. Locals on the island of Chios attempted to douse a wildfire that threatened a yard full of horses in the early morning hours on August 13 as the fire raged on the island. A local reporter said that the horses were removed and not harmed.
