The arrival area at Vancouver International Airport was packed with excited fans on Wednesday, as German soccer superstar Thomas Müller touched down for the first time.

The 35-year-old officially inked his contract with the MLS Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday, in one of the city’s largest-ever professional sports signings.

The attacking midfielder was formally introduced by the club during a press conference Thursday morning along side CEO & Sporting Director Axel Schuster and Head Coach Jesper Sørensen.

Müller won the 2014 World Cup with Germany and has scored more than 250 goals overseas. He’s now got his eye on the prize as he looks to adapt to the MLS.
