From Global News.
In an announcement on Thursday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that the state of California will push for a partisan plan to redraw congressional maps to counter Republican efforts in Texas to gain five more seats in Washington.
Newsom said a special election on Nov. 4 will be held for people in his state to vote and provide "a temporary pathway for congressional maps."
He said President Donald Trump was attempting to "rig" elections because he knows he could lose midterms, and hence, pushing Texas to redraw their maps.
Newsom added that by voting on Nov. 4 and clearing the way to redistrict California’s map "temporarily," people would get "the power to stand up to Trump."
