China imposes a new 75.8% tariff on Canadian canola seed imports | Power & Politics

On Thursday, China imposed a nearly 76 per cent tariff on imports of Canadian canola seed. Although China has said this is because Canada is ‘dumping’ cheap canola exports into the Chinese market, it’s widely believed that this move was in retaliation to a 100 per cent tariff Canada imposed on Chinese electric vehicles last year. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has responded by saying that the Liberals ‘couldn’t care less’ about western Canadian industries. Canadian Canola Growers Association CEO Rick White joins Power & Politics to discuss and the Power Panel weighs in.
