From Global News.
The three-day World Humanoid Robot Games kicked off in China Friday, with hundreds – across 280 teams, from 16 different countries – of robotics experts looking to showcase their latest and greatest achievements.
From soccer to dancing or boxing to skill-based performances, the Beijing games kicked off with no shortage of impressive android advancements.
“We come here to play and to win. But we are also interested in research," said Max Polter, a member of the HTWK Robots football team from Germany. Polter also researches at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences.
As China grapples with its ageing population, the government has invested billions of dollars in advanced humanoid and robotics technologies – and these games offer just a mere portion of their capabilities.
