Hurricane Erin threatens US East Coast as it heads northbound, unlikely to impact Atlantic Canada

From Global News.

Despite its slowly decreasing size, Hurricane Erin continues to threaten the U.S. East Coast as it turns in the Atlantic.

Currently, eastern states are under threat of 100+ km/h winds, with several regions expected to feel the impacts of high waves, pounding surf and rip currents both Wednesday and Thursday.

Erin has prompted evacuations in North Carolina, and as the storm travels further northbound, the storm is expected to hit just south of the Maritimes provinces – off the coasts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.

But as Global News meteorologist Ross Hull reports, the hurricane is likely to weaken by then, suggesting Atlantic Canadians are unlikely to feel the impacts at all.
