From Global News.
At the ALBA-TCP summit, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused Washington of deploying troops under false pretexts.
Regional leaders issued a joint statement rejecting the U.S. military presence and urging respect for sovereignty.
Maduro warned the U.S. deployment in Caribbean waters threatens peace and violates international law, saying, “We categorically reject the orders of the United States government to deploy military forces under false pretexts.”
Colombian President Gustavo Petro also called the move a “mistake,” arguing it will not solve drug-trafficking problems at the U.S. border.
