U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to pull funding from the Smithsonian Museum for promoting what he previously called ‘anti-American ideology.’ In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump accused the museum of focusing on ‘how horrible our Country is’ and ‘how bad Slavery was.’ American academic and author Yohuru Williams tells CBC News a ‘great deal’ would be lost if Trump were able to control what’s featured in museums like the Smithsonian, including the ability for people to think creatively about how we navigate the present and reimagine the future.
