Air India plane crash: India mourns as investigation begins | DW News

A plane crashed in India’s northwestern city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat state on Thursday shortly after departing for London’s Gatwick airport. The cause of the crash has yet to be determined. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the incident was ‘heartbreaking beyond words’. The crash is the first fatal incident involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Police said that 242 passengers and crew were on board at the time.
