From Global News.
Speaking in The Hague on Monday, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte confirmed “all allies agree” on the organization’s new defence spending target.
With some exceptions, all NATO allies will be required to work towards putting five per cent of their GDP towards annual defence capabilities by 2035.
"We are an alliance where we fight together, and if necessary, where we also suffer and die together for our collective defence," Rutte said.
While Spain agreed to the new target, the nation, which is currently NATO’s lowest contributor, reached a deal to be excluded from it.
Furthermore, President Donald Trump has said the figure shouldn’t apply to the U.S., only its allies.
