The oldest computer is about 2000 years old and yet it used just 37 gears to calculate the positions of the Sun, Moon & Eclipses into the future, something that we would use a digital computer to do today. These analogue computers can do much more and can be faster than digital ones for modelling very complex systems but they were replaced by the much more versatile digital computer after WW2. Now they are making a comeback as hybrids, part digital and part analogue in this video we see how they have evolved and could be the future of computing.
