India and China have agreed to step up trade flows and resume direct flights in what’s being called a diplomatic breakthrough. The world’s two most populous nations have been working to rebuild ties damaged by a deadly border clash five years ago. Escalating trade tensions with the US have also played a role. In a sign of thawing relations, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit at the invitation of China’s President Xi Jinping.
