From Global News.
At least 12 police officers died when a Colombian National Police helicopter was attacked in the department of Antioquia while supporting coca leaf eradication operations on Thursday.
In a separate incident the same day, a car bomb explosion near a military air base in Cali killed at least six people and injured 71 others.
Both attacks, which left a total of 18 dead and more than 70 injured, were blamed on different dissident factions of the former FARC guerrilla group that rejected the 2016 peace agreement.
In response to the violence, Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for designating various armed groups, including drug trafficking cartels and dissident factions, as ‘terrorist organizations that can be prosecuted anywhere on Earth’.
