From Global News.
The BC Conservation Officer Service confirmed on Tuesday morning the grizzly bear, which has been living on Texada Island, B.C., for more than a month, has been found dead.
Officers located the bear’s body in the Van Anda area of the island while responding to reports that the bear was shot by an island resident on Monday afternoon.
The animal is believed to have swum from the Powell River area in May. Conservation officers described the bear as a hazardous animal, saying it was tagged and relocated twice last year.
As Global’s Alissa Thibault reports, the shooting is now under investigation.
