From Global News.
On Wednesday, Liberal Leader Mark Carney said if the ruling Liberals won an April 28 election, his government would create a C$2 billion fund to boost the auto sector’s competitiveness and will protect the jobs of workers affected by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
"It will fortify the entire Canadian auto supply chain from raw materials to finished vehicles. Because we’re not just protecting the president. We’re looking to build the future. We’re creating new jobs," he said.
Speaking at a press conference in Windsor, Ontario, Carney also said his government would work with industry to build more car parts in Canada and limit the number of parts crossing the border with the United States during production.
"Finally, I’m committing that a new Liberal government will buy Canadian vehicles to grow our auto industry and create more good union jobs," he said.
