Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday that measures enacted to secure the Canada-U.S. border and stop the flow of fentanyl into the U.S. had not removed the threat of Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs.

Trudeau made the remarks during the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Big City Mayors’ caucus meeting.

The prime minister added that all federal, provincial and municipal leaders should continue to work together with Canadian business leaders to convince U.S. counterparts of the potential damage from tariffs, adding “we’re not out of the woods yet.”
