From Global News.

Speaking during a naming ceremony for Canada’s newest warship, HMCS Protecteur, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday that Canada is “on track” to triple defence spending by 2030.

Trudeau called the introduction of the HMCS Protecteur – Canada’s first joint support ship, capable of launching and supporting both amphibious and airlift operations – a “historic moment,” adding that it comes at “a crucial time in our history.”

The Liberal leader also spoke of Canada’s plan for Arctic defence, which he said is being made in “partnership with Indigenous peoples.”
