From Global News.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry Melanie Joly, in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s 50 per cent copper tariffs, said that the president had not signed an executive order on it yet, but the government of Canada was "following very closely."
She said she would let Prime Minister Mark Carney do the negotiations, but maintained that Canada "will not negotiate in public."
"In context of the trade war," Joly added, saying she was supporting workers affected by the "unjustified" tariffs on aluminum, steel and the auto sector.
Joly said Canada is "open for discussion" with the auto sector. "The auto sector is fundamental to Canada’s manufacturing and our national sovereignty," she added.
