“Canada will always stand in solidarity with Ukraine,” says Carney on Ukraine Independence day

From Global News.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. special envoy Keith Kellogg joined president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Sunday for a state celebration marking Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Zelenskyy praised Carney’s first visit as prime minister on Ukraine’s most significant national holiday as a "big honour" for the country.

Carney pledged Canada’s continued support and urged deterrence against Russia amid ongoing discussions about western security guarantees for Ukraine.

Carney also said he "applaud(s) the leadership of the transformative U.S. President Donald Trump, in creating the possibilities for peace," welcoming Trump’s "openness to considering ways for the United States to support long term peace and security for Ukraine”, aligning with the efforts of the G7 coalition.
