Carney announces measures to “lower costs for Canadians” as Trump tariffs loom | LIVE

From Global News.

During a visit to P.E.I. on Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will announce measures "to lower costs for Canadians" amid increasing economic pressures brought forth by the ongoing Canada-U.S. trade war.

Canada remains one of the few countries yet to make a trade deal with U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump announced 30 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods, which are currently set to go into effect on Aug. 1.

Trump announced Sunday that the European Union (EU) had agreed to a trade deal setting a 15 per cent tariff on most goods, staving off for now higher import taxes on both sides that might have sent shockwaves through economies around the globe.
