Carney “caved in” to Trump, says White House, “good conversation,” says PM

From Global News.

In a press briefing on Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Prime Minister Mark Carney "caved in" to President Donald Trump and removed Canada’s controversial Digital Services Tax.

Leavitt added that it was a mistake for Canada to implement the tax, as it would have hurt tech companies in the U.S.

In a separate press briefing in Ottawa, Carney also made the official announcement, saying that on Sunday evening, he and Trump "had a good conversation," and had both agreed to recommence their negotiations.

Trump announced in a social media post last week that he was cutting off all trade talks with Canada over the Digital Services Tax.
