From Global News.
Liberal leader Mark Carney announced on Monday that under his leadership, Canada will be putting a focus on "Made in Canada" defence procurement amid trade woes with the United States.
Asked about his negotiating power when it comes to the United States, Carney said “when you go into negotiation you have to know what you want… They’re in the interest of Canadian workers, they’re in the interest of Canadian security. And so we will be negotiating from a position of strength.”
Carney also said that Canada will be modernizing NORAD. “We’re building military installations and increasing the presence of the Canadian Armed Forces in the Arctic year round.”
Among his commitments, Carney said "We’ve been talking to our European partners… so that we are part of the defence supply chain… we diversify our reliable partners."
