This unit was suspiciously cheap for a reason. When I first tried to use it, the motor would just jolt and the battery power would cut off. The initial inrush current to the motor is so high that the inadequate batteries supplied with it detect it as an overload and cut out.
When used with a more wholesome battery pack from an eBay cordless ratchet, it worked fine. In fact it worked much better than expected, and whizzed through a tough bit of stainless steel!
The whole kit consists of the mini grinder, two disks, two lacklustre batteries, a charger and a hex key for changing the disk. At £16 shipped it did hint at there being an issue.
The complete lack of branding may indicate that they were dumping the stock.
It’s interesting to note that all the listings for the same tool increased in price in sync just after I bought it. They must all be the same seller.
There was negative feedback about the batteries not taking a charge, but it’s probable that they had taken a charge but were cutting out like this one.
Shame they’ve hobbled the tool with inappropriate batteries. It’s pretty good otherwise.
I contacted the seller and they fobbed me off with the usual stalling tactics they use, including telling me that "they tested it before and it was great", and that it was normal for the grinder to keep spinning for a while after the trigger is released, and asking me to send a photo of the grinder not working.
