Tensions between China and the U.S. are ramping up as President Donald Trump threatens further tariffs – of up to 50 per cent – against the nation, after already implementing 10 per cent tariffs a week prior.

After this bombshell economic threat and Vice President JD Vance’s “ignorant and disrespectful” remarks about “Chinese peasants,” China’s Foreign Ministry is promising they will “fight to the end” to safeguard their interests.

“If the U.S. truly wishes to engage in talks [about tariff negotiations], it should adopt an attitude of equality, mutual respect, and reciprocity,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said in Beijing Tuesday. “If it persists in disregarding the common interests of both countries… and insists on escalating the trade and tariff conflict, China will, as always, fight to the end,” he added.

Speaking to Fox News Thursday, Vance said the U.S. was borrowing money from “Chinese peasants to buy the things those Chinese peasants manufacture.”
