China and Hong Kong are currently experiencing an outbreak of the chikungunya virus, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. Thousands of cases have been recorded since June. The virus is also prevalent in Africa, Asia, and the Americas, and experts warn that it could spread to other regions due to climate change. Meanwhile authorities in southern China are trying to limit the outbreak.
