From AFP News Agency.
A video of a military truck parade amid throngs of people was shared in November, 2024, with a text overlay suggesting it shows prominent rebel groups in the Philippines “ready to support” Vice President Sara Duterte.
The vice president had been involved in a dramatic public feud with President Ferdinand Marcos in recent weeks, ending a once powerful political alliance.
But the video shared has nothing to do with the conflict.
Manila-based journalist Jan Cuyco began her investigation with a reverse-image search, tracking down the original video. Then, using visual clues to launch keyword searches, as well as geolocation techniques, she was able to confirm the video was shot in Guinea.
