There’s renewed hope for a lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

On Saturday, the central African nation’s government and M23 rebels signed a ceasefire deal in Qatar, to end more than a decade worth of fighting between the warring sides.

Dubbed the ‘Declaration of Principles’, the agreement is intended to be a roadmap towards a permanent truce.

Both sides say they’ll refrain from attacks, hate propaganda, and any attempt to seize new positions.
